Antonio Banderas has been in many well-known movies, such as Desperado, Interview with the Vampire, Puss in Boots, and many others. However, he may be best known for his iconic role as Zorro in The Mask of Zorro.
Which came out in 1998. In that movie, Alejandro Murrieta, played by Antonio Banderas, took the place of Don Diego de la Vega, played by Anthony Hopkins.
Many people are excited about the idea of a new Zorro movie because legacy sequels are so popular. In an interview with ComicBook.com for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, Antonio Banderas said that Marvel star Tom Holland would be his choice to carry on the Zorro legacy.
“Tom Holland,” Banderas answered with assurance. “I played Uncharted with him, and he’s a lot of fun and very active. He has this spark, too. Then why?” Banderas also said that he would be willing to play Zorro again in a new movie so that, as Hopkins did with him, he could give the mask to someone else.
“I would, sure. I would give that some thought. Then why?” Banderas talked about it. “I think I said something similar to someone today when I was being interviewed… If they call it Zorro, I’ll do what Anthony Hopkins did in the first movie and pass the torch to someone else.”

This isn’t the first time Banderas has said he’d like to do something with his role as Zorro. Banderas said earlier this year that he had talked with Tarantino about bringing the character back in a crossover with Jamie Foxx’s character Django from the 2012 movie Django Unchained.
“He talked to me, I think, on Oscar night [in 2020], when Pain and Glory were up for an award. At one of those parties, we ran into each other “Banderas talked about it.
“He just walked up to me, and I said, “In your hands?” He replied, “Yes, sir!” Because Quentin is very good at making movies of this quality. Even if they are based on low-budget movies from the 1960s and 1970s, he can make something very interesting out of them.
We’ve never worked together before, but it would be great because of Jamie Foxx and the chance that he could play Zorro again when he’s older. It would be awesome, funny, and crazy.”
The movie Puss in Boots: The Last Wish will come out in theatres this Christmas. Early screenings begin on November 26th.
