Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas Chose Surrogacy Due to ‘Medical Complications’: “This Was Essential”
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas Chose Surrogacy: Priyanka Chopra Jonas said that she and her husband Nick Jonas chose to have their first child through a surrogate because of health problems, and she answered critics of their choice.
Chopra Jonas, 40, said in her cover story for the February 2023 issue of British Vogue, which came out on Thursday, that she had health problems. The actor said that surrogacy, “This was a step that had to be taken, and I’m glad I was able to do it.
Our surrogate was so generous, kind, beautiful, and funny, and she took care of this precious gift for us for six months.” In January 2022, Chopra Jonas and Jonas, who is 30, had their first child, a daughter named Malti Marie.
In an interview with British Vogue, the “Baywatch” actress talked about her experiences as a mother and the difficulties she faced. Chopra Jonas said that she has “developed a tough hide” to deal with criticism, but she won’t let people judge her or make assumptions about why she chose to have a baby through surrogacy.
She said, “It hurts so much when they talk about my daughter.” “Don’t let her get involved,” I say. I remember holding her little hands while they were trying to find her veins. So, she won’t talk about other people.”
Chopra Jonas said, “You don’t know who I am.” “You don’t know anything about what I’ve been through. And just because I don’t want my medical history or that of my daughter to be public doesn’t mean you can make up your reasons.”
The actress has been very “protective” of her family since the birth of her daughter. When the couple first told people about the birth of their first child in January 2022, they just posted a simple message on their Instagram accounts. They didn’t say the baby’s name, birthday, or gender.
A few months later, in an Instagram post about his wife for Mother’s Day, Jonas talked about how being a parent is like being on a “roller coaster.” He posted a picture of the three of them, but the baby’s face was covered to protect her privacy.
The Jonas Brothers member wrote on Instagram that their child was in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for more than 100 days before they could take him or her home.
“Every family’s journey is different, and it takes a certain amount of faith,” he said. “Even though ours was a hard few months, looking back, it became clear how precious and perfect every moment is.”
Chopra Jonas told British Vogue more about her daughter’s early birth and time in the NICU. “We spent every single day with her on my chest and my husband’s chest,” she said. She said, “I didn’t know if she would make it or not.”
