James Corden Reassessed His Career: James Corden left “The Late Late Show” because he got into a fight with his son. The 44-year-old actor talked about a time two summers ago when he was working on his Amazon Prime Video show “Mammals,” which premiered in November, and had an emotional conversation with his 10-year-old son Max.

“I was filming on a Sunday, and when I came downstairs around 6 a.m., my son, who was 10 at the time, was sitting on the stairs. He asked, “Are you working today?” I said, “Yes,” and he replied, “I thought it was Sunday.” He told this story on “The Drew Barrymore Show.”

I told him, “I know, buddy, but this schedule is all over the place.” We only have a few minutes left before we have to go back and do the show, so we just have to get it done.

“Then his face kind of fell. I got in my car and called my wife, Jules. I said, “I’ve realised that, best case scenario, Max might want to be around us for six more summers, and I can’t waste another one.”

“So, really, the only choice was to say, ‘Well, if I really want to do this other work, it can’t come at the expense of our kids and our family.'”

The father of three, who also has eight-year-old Carey and five-year-old Charlotte with Jules, said again that his decision to leave in 2023 isn’t because he doesn’t enjoy it, but that he never saw the CBS talk show as his “final destination.”

He added, “I’ll be a mess on that last show.” I’ll cry my eyes out, but I’ll know deep down that putting down roots in London is the best thing for me and my family. It feels right in every way.”
