Cher is very conscious of her 40-year age difference from her partner, Alexander “AE” Edwards. The 76-year-old pop icon is currently dating the 36-year-old music producer and has opened out about their relationship.
Cher discussed dating someone considerably younger than her on Friday’s edition of The Kelly Clarkson Show.
“On paper, it’s kind of ludicrous,” she said of Edwards, “but in real life, we get along wonderfully.” “He’s fantastic, and I never bestow attributes on men who don’t deserve them. He’s a wonderful person. He’s a genius. He’s extremely brilliant and hilarious. And I believe he’s extremely attractive.”
Cher said that, aside from her late husband, Sonny Bono, she discovered that men her age were not romantically interested in her.
“I would never have had a date if I hadn’t met younger men in my life because older men just didn’t like me all that much,” she stated. “I’ve had a couple of boyfriends who were roughly my age, but they just didn’t like me for some reason.
Perhaps younger men don’t mind if you’re witty, outrageous, or like to do silly things and have a strong personality. I’m not going to give up my personality for anyone.”
Cher and Edwards originally met at Paris Fashion Week in September, and she confirmed their relationship last month by responding to followers on Twitter.

Edwards, Def Jam Records’ VP of A&R, was previously linked to Amber Rose. In 2018, the couple confirmed their relationship.
Slash Electric Alexander Edwards, their 3-year-old son, was born a year later. Rose and Edwards’ relationship ended in 2021, and he admitted to cheating on her with 12 different people.
