A professional basketball player for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association, Derrick Martell Rose (born October 4, 1988) is an American who was born in New York City (NBA). Before being selected first overall by his hometown Chicago Bulls in the 2008 NBA draught, he played one season of college basketball for the Memphis Tigers.
When he was 22 years old, he was named NBA Rookie of the Year in 2009 and went on to win the NBA Most Valuable Player Award in 2011, making him the NBA’s youngest player to do so.

After five days, he had surgery on his right ankle and was out for at least two months. On February 25, 2022, Rose had another procedure to deal with a skin infection on his ankle. He was ruled out for good.
