Former NBA Player Matt Barnes’ 15-year-old Son Was Struck by a Vehicle and Required Surgery
Isaiah, the son of former NBA star Matt Barnes, is on the mend following a recent ER visit.
On Sunday, August 25, Barnes, 44, posted an update on Instagram regarding his teenage son, who had encountered several challenges prior to being admitted to the hospital. “This week was hard for my boys.
Attempting to play through the Mamba Invitational on Friday, he experienced a severe stomach ache after being struck by a car while jogging on Wednesday.
Isaiah kept his health condition a secret from Barnes and his ex-wife, Gloria Govan.
“After struggling to sleep on Friday night, he finally told his mother and me yesterday when he was unable to move. Barnes went on, “I took him to the ER, where he needed emergency appendix surgery. The largest appendix the doctor has ever seen that hadn’t burst.
With the caption, “Thank you for the love and support from family and friends!,” the retired athlete shared a picture of his son lying in a hospital bed. We’re on our way home.
In addition, Govan, 39, who wed Barnes in 2013 and 2016 records her child’s hospital stay. While his sibling was “waiting on surgery,” Carter, Isaiah’s twin brother, was attending a basketball competition.
Govan posted on Instagram, saying, “It’s minor… kinda.” “But even with an appendicitis!”
“Been one tough week man,” Isaiah captioned the Instagram Story copy of his father’s update.
Since then, the teenager has posted a picture of himself being taken from the hospital. With the praying hands emoji included, Isaiah wrote, “Discharged,” as the description for the photo. “I appreciate all of the prayers, everyone.”
Following the procedure, Isaiah and Carter were reunited. Social media users shared a video of the twins cuddling while Carter said, “Missed you, man,” as he examined his brother’s fresh scar.
Over the course of his 14-year NBA career, Barnes played for the Los Angeles Lakers for two seasons, the Los Angeles Clippers for four, and the Sacramento Kings for a brief period of time. He made his retirement known in December 2017 and has subsequently made guest appearances as a commentator on ESPN.
In addition to Isaiah and Carter, Barnes is also the father of Ashton, a 6-year-old son, whom he shares with model Anansa Sims, his fiancée. Barnes frequently shares on social media the significant life events of his children, and most recently, he flaunted a tattoo honoring his and Sims’ blended family.
“So Gorgeous, Baby! The significance, the symbolism, the affection, the commitment, the homage to our family and the love we all share. Sims captioned the photo earlier this month, saying, “Love is an action word and Baby you show us everyday with the things you do, not just say.”
A true example of a man, protector, provider, father figure, best friend, and partner. I appreciate your public display of affection for all of us. My prayer has been answered—loving each other and each of our children as our own. Blessed and Incorporated I cherish you My Man, My Man, My Man.
