Goran Dragic was born on May 6, 1986. He is a Slovenian professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before joining the NBA in 2008, he played professional basketball in Slovenia and Spain.

He was called “The Dragon” because of this. This isn’t Dragic’s only job. He has also played for the Miami Heat, the Houston Rockets, the Phoenix Suns, and the Raptors. A lot of people thought he was great when he played for the Suns in 2014.

He was named to the All-NBA Third Team and the NBA Most Improved Player in 2014. He was named an NBA All-Star for the first time in 2018 when he played for Miami. Because of this, he led the Slovenian national team to its first FIBA EuroBasket title in 2017, and he was named Most Valuable Player.

Career

The first time Dragic played was in 2003 when he was 17 years old. He played for KD Ilirija in the Slovenian minor league. After a year, Dragic moved to Slovan, which played in the top-level Slovenian Basketball League and the Adriatic League in 2004, to play basketball.
In 2006, Dragic moved from Slovan to Saski Baskonia, a club in Spain’s ACB League. They loaned him to Murcia, a team in Spain.
He joined the Slovenian team Union Olimpija in 2007. He played there during the 2007–08 season, and the team won the Slovenian League championship with him on the team.

He scored 32 points in a loss to the Utah Jazz on January 25, 2010. Dragic hit 6 of 7 three-pointers in the loss.
Aaron Brooks went to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Dragi on February 24, 2011. Dragic and a protected first-round pick were traded in exchange for Aaron Brooks. He scored 11 points, had 11 assists, and had 11 rebounds in the Rockets’ season-ending game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on April 13, 2011. This was Dragic’s first career triple-double.
Saski Baskonia was Dragic’s team in Spain when the NBA didn’t play in 2011. He played there for a short time until the lockout was over.
Dragic came back to the Rockets for the 2011–12 season. In most of the season, Dragi was still used as a bench player to help the Rockets out because of the lockout that cut the season short by a few games.
He played Kyle Lowry when the player was sick with a bacteria. He did this in March of 2012 when Kyle Lowry was out. He won the Western Conference Player of the Week on April 9, 2012.
As a free agent in 2012, Dragi was able to sign with any team. As part of his new deal, he agreed to sign a four-year, $30 million contract with the Phoenix Suns. On July 19, 2012, he joined the team again. On February 19, 2013, Dragi set a new record for assists with 18 as the Suns beat the Portland Trail Blazers 102–98. He also scored 14 points.
On February 3, 2014, Dragi won his second Western Conference Player of the Week award and his first with the Suns for games played from January 27 to February 2. This was his first award with the Suns.

As a Heat player in 2019, Dragi helped them get to the 2020 NBA Finals. The Heat lost in 6 games against the LA Lakers.
He missed four games in the Finals because he had plantar fasciitis in Game 1.
They signed and traded Dragi and Precious Achiuwa with the Heat in exchange for Kyle Lowry on August 6, 2021. He said he was leaving the Raptors on November 28 because of personal reasons. Traded to the San Antonio Spurs on February 10, 2022, were Dragi and a 2022 first-round draught pick.
Drew Eubanks, Thaddeus Young, and a second-round draught pick from the same year were also traded. He and the Spurs agreed to buy out his contract five days after that.

National Team Career

This is what Dragic did to win gold at the 2004 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship. Dragicc was on the Slovenian under-20 junior national team that won. He also played at the FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship in 2005, which was held in Europe.
Dragic played on the Slovenian men’s national basketball team at the 2006 FIBA World Championship and the 2007 EuroBasket, but only in small roles. There was a lot more of Dragic’s work with the Slovenian national basketball team in the 2009 EuroBasket and in the 2010 FIBA World Championships.
For the 2011 and 2013 EuroBasket tournaments, he and his brother Zoran played together. The 2013 EuroBasket, which took place there, was even better. They helped Slovenia finish 5th and qualify for the 2014 FIBA World Cup in 2013.
Goran and his brother helped the team do well in 2013. Dragic finished in the top five in points and assists at the 2013 EuroBasket. This earned him a spot on the All-Tournament Team. The Slovenia team captain was Dragic in 2014 after Jaka Lakovi stopped playing for the country.
Before the 2014 FIBA World Cup, Dragi rested in 9 of their 14 games before he played in the official games. Dragic played with no restrictions after the friendly games were over. He was the only All-NBA Team member to play in the 2014 FIBA World Cup, except for the Team USA players.
He said that he would stop playing for the Slovenian national basketball team after the 2017 EuroBasket. There, he helped Slovenia win its first-ever FIBA European Championship, which they did. It was the most points in a final since Pau Gasol scored 36 in 2003 final.
He scored 35 points, on 12-22 shooting, which was the most in a final since then. Because of how well he played, Dragi was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. He averaged 22.6 points per game in 9 games played. After that, he was named the Slovenian Sportsman of the Year for 2017.

Personal Life

When Dragic was born, he had a Slovenian mother and a Serbian father, so he was born. He played football when he was a child in Slovenia.
That’s why he had to change sports. As a child, he was a big fan of NBA players like Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, and Steve Nash.
He can speak Slovenian, Serbian, Spanish, and English very well. Dragic’s younger brother, Zoran, used to play with him on the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat. He now plays for Cedevita Olimpija in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
He and his wife have two kids.
In January 2015, he and teammate Zoran briefly played together for the Suns in the fourth quarter of their 112–96 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. Markieff and Marcus Morris were also in the game with them.
Until now, it had never been done before in the history of the NBA. Two different pairs of brothers played for one team together at the same time.
When Milorad Dodik was the president of the Republic of Serbia, he gave Dragic an Order of Njego and a Medal of Merit for the People in August of 2018.
