“I’m Waiting for Someone to Tell Me That the Jig is Up,” Brendan Fraser Says of His Movie Star Comeback
Brendan Fraser thinks about the standing ovation he got at the Venice Film Festival in September when The Whale was shown for the first time. On Wednesday’s episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, the 54-year-old actor talked about the movie and how people felt about it.
“I just started crying. That was the end of it “Fraser talked about the supposed standing ovation that lasted for six minutes. “To be honest, I think it depends on who’s holding the stopwatch,” joked Fraser, referring to the different reports of how long the applause was. In October, he got the same response at the London Film Festival.
He also said, “I still feel like I’m waiting for someone to walk in and tell me the game is up.” Fraser said that as he learned more about the movie, he “felt there was a real story to be told about someone who’s locked behind closed doors,” which is what made him want to play the role.
