In a Lunchtime Shooting in Jersey City, One Person Was Detained and a Gun Was Recovered

Monday afternoon in Jersey City, there was a shooting. One person was arrested, and a handgun was found. Radio transmissions show that when shots were fired at 12:35 p.m. near Martin Luther King Drive and Grant Street, police arrived quickly.

Within minutes of the shooting, one person was taken into custody after a brief struggle with a police officer who was trying to arrest him.

The transmissions said that the person who was arrested was shooting at someone else, but no one could be found to be shot at. Shell casings were found at the scene.

On Sunday, a Man Was Assaulted

Police say that on Sunday afternoon, a man who was 35 years old got into an argument with two other men near Mallory and Clendenny avenues, which led to the man getting hurt.

Kimberly Wallace Scalcione, a spokeswoman for the city of Jersey City, said that all of the men who were in the fight knew each other.

The victim, who refused to go to the hospital, had swelling in his right eye and right lower shin. The accident happened at 2:39 p.m. Wallace-Scalcione stated The person didn’t want medical help at the scene.
