He was named the Gatorade Arkansas Boys Basketball Player of the Year and USA Today’s State Player of the Year as he led Northside High School to a state title game, but they lost to North Little Rock High School.

College Career

  • A freshman, Joe played 34 games and scored 13.9 points per game. He was also named to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) All-Freshman team. He made 113 three-pointers out of 273 attempts (41.4 percent), breaking the Arkansas record set by Scotty Thurman (102) and also setting a record for a freshman in the SEC.
  • He also led the conference in three-point percentage, which is the same as the record for a freshman in the SEC. On December 1, 2018, he scored 34 points on 10 of 13 shooting from three (11–14 overall) against FIU. He was also named the SEC Player of the Week after that.
  • Joe was a preseason All-SEC player and was on the Jerry West Award watch list for his sophomore year. CBS Sports and ESPN also named Joe the 80th best college basketball player going into the 2019–20 season. Joe was also ranked 33rd best for the 2020 NBA draught by ESPN.
  • Joe was named the SEC co-Player of the Week on January 2, 2020, after he scored 24 points and grabbed five rebounds in a 71–64 win over Indiana. It was January 12 and Arkansas came back to beat Ole Miss 76–72. Joe scored 34 points, including 26 in the second half, to lead Arkansas.
  • On February 4, Joe had an arthroscopic procedure on his knee because an MRI showed that it was inflamed and he could not play for a long time. The number of points and rebounds Joe scored and grabbed as a sophomore was 16.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
  • After the season, he said he was going to play in the NBA in 2020. On August 1, Joe said that he was not going to be in the draught and that he was going back to Arkansas. It was then that he changed his mind and left Arkansas for the professional ranks on August 17.

Because of his skills, the Philadelphia 76ers chose Joe with their 49th pick in the 2020 NBA draught. The Philadelphia 76ers signed him on December 3. Joe played seven minutes in the NBA for the first time on December 27, 2020. He scored two points on 1-of-2 shooting with one rebound, one assist, and one steal in a 118–94 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
