He is an American professional basketball player for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He also plays for the Westchester Knicks of the NBA G League on a two-way deal. His team was the Texas Longhorns.
School Career
Sims went to high school in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School. When he was a junior, he scored 21.8 points, had 11.2 rebounds, and gave out 3.7 assists per game. With 25 points and 10 rebounds per game as an older player, that’s how often he played in high school. When Sims left, he was still Cristo Rey Jesuit’s all-time scorer with 2,005 points. A consensus four-star recruit, he agreed to play college basketball for Texas, instead of Minnesota.

College Career
It was Sims’ first year in Texas. He scored five points and grabbed three rebounds per game each time. Mohamed Bamba got hurt and he took on a bigger role late in the season because of it. As a sophomore, he averaged 4.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, even though he had to miss a lot of games because of a bad ankle.
When Sims was a junior, he broke his back against Baylor on February 10, 2020. As a junior, he scored 9.7 points, grabbed 8.2 rebounds, and blocked 1.2 shots per game. He was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. On March 13, 2021, Sims scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a 91–86 victory over Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Tournament title game at Oklahoma State.
As a senior, he scored 9.2 points, grabbed 7.2 rebounds, and blocked 1.1 shots per game. He was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. After the season, he said he wanted to play in the NBA in 2021 while still being able to go to college. Later, he signed with Klutch Sports, giving up his last chance to play.

Professional Career
Sims was chosen by the New York Knicks with the 58th pick of the 2021 NBA draught. On August 8, 2021, he signed a two-way contract with New York. He would play for their G League team, the Westchester Knicks.
