John Cena is emphasizing his objections to starting a family.

In a segment on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast broadcast on Wednesday, August 21, 47-year-old John Cena gave more details on his choice to remain childless.

When broadcaster and former NFL player Shannon Sharpe questioned Cena about his stance on the issue, the professional wrestler responded, “I don’t want them.” “I understand the investment that life requires, and I also have a certain amount of curiosity about it.”

He went on, “And my biggest fear is that, although I try to approach the world with kindness and curiosity as a driven, often stubborn, and selfish person, I don’t think I’m personally ready, nor will I ever be, to invest the time it takes to be a great parent because I want to live life to the fullest.

I still have a ton of work to do. And there’s still a lot I want to do. I do it with a beautiful companion. We have discussed this informally. Our values are similar.

The Jackpot! star continued by telling Sharpe, 56, that discussing not wanting children is a “tough subject” since it “instantly puts you in a category” and others “can’t help but judge.”

Human nature dictates this. Everybody is judgmental. I think I work under the assumption that everyone is happy with their life,” he said, adding that he has been secure in his choice ever since he was a teenager.

My views only straddle that gray area when faced with emotionally trying situations. And I’m content right now with my situation. My life is full with happiness and fulfillment. And that’s essentially my position on the matter.

From 2012 to 2018, Cena dated WWE star Nikki Garcia. A few weeks before their wedding, the couple called off their engagement.

Garcia, 40, talked candidly about how their relationship ended because of their different views on starting a family in 2020 while appearing on Maria Menounos’ “Better Together” program.

“All in all, our relationship was amazing; it was just that we were two different people with different dreams.” At the time, she stated, “We were trying so hard to make it one.” “I could tell that’s not what we wanted, even when he was willing to give me kids in the end.”

Garcia went on with her partner Artem Chigvintsev from Dancing With the Stars following their breakup. They welcomed their son Matteo into their family in July 2020.

In contrast, Cena started dating Shay Shariatzadeh in 2019. He proposed on Valentine’s Day in 2020, and Us Weekly has learned that the couple married in a small, secret wedding in October of the same year. In July 2022, the pair had a second wedding ceremony.

“John and Shay initially had a very private ceremony because they wanted to avoid a lot of attention and fuss,” a source revealed to Us a month after their wedding. “This time, however, they chose a stunning venue and turned it into a truly special event. They’re deeply in love and thankful to have found each other.”
