On the Angie Martinez IRL podcast on December 26, Kim Kardashian talked about her relationship with her ex-husband Kanye West.

When asked about sharing parenting with the rapper, Kardashian cried as she talked about how she keeps her kids away from the paparazzi and scandals involving their father.

“One day, my kids will thank me for not trashing their dad while I had the chance,” Kardashian said as she wiped her tears away with her sleeve. “Not only did it kill me, but I had to die for my family. I mean, I’m fine with it. But they’ll thank me, and I’ll personally answer any questions they have.”

“I’m no longer in a position to help,” she said next. The children of the first couple are North, 9, Saint, 7, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3. Kardashian also told Martinez that she has “absolutely” protected West and that she “will continue to do so” for her children.

She said, “My kids don’t know what’s going on in the world.” She then said that she can even protect kids at school because she knows their teachers and “what goes on at recess.”

“No matter what we’re going through or what’s going on in the world, if we’re driving to school and they want to listen to their dad’s music, I have to smile, blast his music, and sing along with my kids,” she said. “As soon as I drop them off, I’ll cry a lot.”

She also got emotional when she talked about her late father, Robert Kardashian, whom she called “the best dad.” She told me, “I have the best memories and the most amazing experiences, and that’s all I want for my kids. I would want that for them as long as they could get it.”

“Coparenting is extremely f—ing hard,” she said, adding that the tension between her and West, as well as West’s recent anti-Semitic statements and tweets, are “real serious, heavy grown-up s—t that they’re not ready to deal with.”

One TikTok user said, “This is the most real and open I’ve ever seen her.” West also said things about Kardashian on social media. In response, Kardashian said she can’t “let such energy into her life” and must “stand above it.”

“If I’m in a bad mood, I’ll go back and say, ‘OK, I have all the receipts,'” she said. “Then I go back to my children.”
