Lea Michele and Her Husband Zandy Reich Have Welcomed Their Second Child, a Baby Girl
With the recent birth of her second child with husband Zandy Reich, Lea Michele is now formally a mother of two.
On Sunday, August 25, Michele, 37, posted a picture of the baby bundled up in a flowery blanket to Instagram with the caption, “Our hearts are so full Emery Sol Reich.”
After getting married in March 2019, Michele and Reich, 41, welcomed their first child, a son named Ever, in August 2020. She revealed that they were expecting their second child in March.
“Mum, Daddy, and Ever are ecstatic,” she wrote as the caption for a set of Instagram pictures that displayed her nude baby bulge.
Later, in May, Michele disclosed that she was expecting a girl. With a picture of her expanding belly, she wrote, “The most beautiful Mother’s Day today, holding my son who made me a mama… and carrying my daughter.”
The Glee alumna exclusively talked to Us Weekly about her expanding family and Ever’s reaction to his younger sister while she was pregnant.
“I believe he is ecstatic. I mean, he was wondering, “Am I going to get a brother or a sister?” before he became pregnant. In July, Michele came back to us. “I’m really happy to be able to give him this, and he’s been really lovely and sweet, so I think it’s going to work out well.”
See, he will eventually ask himself, “Wait a minute, what’s going on here?” But things are wonderful right now. It’s excellent. Thus, I’m appreciative of that.
Michele has been transparent about her infertility difficulties in recent years. Katherine Schwarzenegger talked about questioning if she should “just stop” trying to get pregnant before having Ever during an Instagram Live in March 2021.
“Maybe this isn’t meant to be for me,” I kept thinking to myself. Perhaps this won’t come to pass. It’s something that has always been my greatest dread in life, personally. I’ve desired that more than anything,” the woman remarked. “Emotionally, it just began to grow and grow, and then we became pregnant.”
Michele disclosed the next year that she had trouble becoming pregnant after having Ever.
She posted on her Instagram Stories in March 2022, stating, “We have had some heartbreaks already this time around. Our journey bringing [our second baby] into this world was not easy.” She also expressed her “faith God will bring us another when the time is right.”
Michele has adapted well to her new job as a mother. In May 2022, she revealed exclusively to Us Weekly that she sings to Ever “every night before he goes to sleep.”
She exclaimed, “I love being Ever’s mom, and being a mom is one of the greatest gifts,” at the moment.
Before becoming pregnant for the second time, Michele made a big impression on Broadway when she replaced Beanie Feldstein as Fanny Brice in the September 2022 production of Funny Girl.
Michele did not originate the role in the revival, therefore even though she received great praise for her performance, she was not eligible for a Tony nomination in 2023. But when she and the cast sang “Don’t Rain on My Parade” at the awards ceremony that June, she did get a standing ovation.
