High School Career
Claxton went to Legacy Charter School in Greenville, South Carolina, to learn. When he was a senior, he averaged 17.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game, and he became the fourth player in the school’s history to score more than 1,000 points. He was a three-star recruit and chose to play for Georgia over Baylor, Florida State, NC State, and South Carolina because they were all better teams.
Professional Career
On June 20, 2019, the Brooklyn Nets chose Claxton with the 31st pick in the 2019 NBA draught, which was held that day. When the Nets made Claxton their new player on July 7, 2019, they said so on that day.
In January 2020, he hurt his hamstring and was sent to the team’s G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets. On June 24, 2020, the Nets said that Claxton had successfully undergone arthroscopic labrum repair surgery on his left shoulder. He was expected to miss the rest of the 2019–20 season because of the surgery.
