Pele is Recovering From a Respiratory Infection
Rio de Janeiro, December 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) – (SocialNews.XYZ) Doctors treating Pele said on Monday that he is getting better from a respiratory infection, but he is still in the hospital and there is no timetable for his release.
The 82-year-old was taken to the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo at the end of last month to treat an infection and reevaluate chemotherapy.
“The patient’s clinical condition, especially his respiratory infection, makes it unclear when he will be able to go home,” said a statement from the hospital that was signed by three doctors.
Pele is the only person to have won the World Cup three times, in 1958, 1962, and 1970.
In the past few years, he has had problems with his spine, hip, knee, and kidneys, among other things. Xinhua says that the former star for Santos and the New York Cosmos had surgery last year to get rid of a tumour in his colon.
In the past few weeks, Pele has been keeping fans up to date on his health through social media as he watches the World Cup.
“I’m strong and optimistic, and my treatment is going on as usual. I’d like to thank everyone on the medical and nursing staff for taking such good care of me.” Last week, he wrote.
