Samantha Cope, Spouse of Joey Lawrence, Has Initiated Divorce Proceedings Following a Two-year Marriage

Joey Lawrence’s spouse, Samantha Cope, has officially requested a divorce, according to Us Weekly.

On August 21, two months after their stated date of separation, Cope, 37, sought to dissolve her marriage to the actor on Wednesday. Dylan, their 19-month-old daughter, is Samantha’s sole physical child, according to court records that Us was able to get.

Cope indicated in records obtained by Us that once Dylan turned three, she would allow Lawrence to remain with her for up to two nights each week. Additionally, Cope has prevented the court from granting spousal support. The news was initially reported by TMZ.

Following his divorce from ex-wife Chandie Yawn-Nelson in July 2020, 48-year-old Lawrence moved on with Cope. The two got together on the set of My Husband’s Secret Brother on Lifetime.

Lawrence told Us in 2021, “We met during a really intense year and a half for everyone, given the pandemic. And then, when you least expect it, wonderful things can happen. Meeting her has been the most amazing thing ever.”

After Us Weekly‘s exclusive announcement that Lawrence and Cope were engaged in August 2021, Joey took to social media to share her excitement for their future.

He stated at the time, “Knowing we will grow old and super wrinkly together is the ultimate blessing.” “We are beyond excited to see what the future holds for us.”

Cope and Lawrence got married in May 2022. Lawrence disclosed that they were expecting their first child a few months later. (Lawrence, who was married to Yawn-Nelson for almost ten years, also has two daughters, Liberty, 14, and Charleston, 18.)

Lawrence made light of the fact that he’s a “hopeless romantic,” joking that he’s been “married a billion times” more than a year after having his daughter Dylan.
