‘Stranger Things’ Star Noah Schnapp Reveals He is Gay With a Heartwarming Reference to the Show
Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on “Stranger Things,” told fans on Thursday in a TikTok video that he is gay. “After hiding my sexuality for 18 years because I was afraid, I finally told my friends and family, and all they said was, ‘We know.'” This is what the text in the video says.
These words are added to a video of Schnapp lip-syncing to someone else on TikTok saying, “Know what it was never? That tomb. No one really cared about it. To tell the truth, it will never get that bad.”
Schnapp, who plays suburban teen Will Byers in the popular Netflix horror show, wrote in the video’s description, “I guess I’m more like Will than I thought.”
Noah Schnapp won the award for Male TV Star of the Year at the People’s Choice Awards in 2022. Schnapp said in July that Will Byers is gay and in love with his friend Mike Wheeler. This was a popular fan theory (Finn Wolfhard).
“Obviously, it was hinted at in Season 1: It was always there, but you never really knew, is it just that he’s growing up slower than his friends?” Schnapp told Variety at the time. “Now that he is older, they have made it clear and real. He is now very clear that he is gay, and he loves Mike. But it was moving slowly at first.”
