Todd and Julie Chrisley started their time in prison with the “hope” that they would be treated fairly. Before they turned themselves in, the reality stars who had been found guilty of fraud spoke directly to their podcast listeners about their “hope” for a successful appeal.

“You just have to hope and pray to God that when one part of the legal system fails, the next level, which is the appellate court, sees the mistakes and tries to fix them,” Todd, 53, said on Wednesday’s episode of “Chrisley Confessions.”

He added, “That’s the best you can hope for.” “And you have to believe in God and hope that he will help you get up and move forward. And that’s exactly what we’re doing right now.”

The patriarch of “Chrisley Knows Best” went on to say that his upcoming sentence was “not [his] final destination.”

“I know that this could be my future for a while, but I also believe that the justice system will turn it around,” he insisted. “I also think that the court of appeals will see this for what it is.”

Julie agreed. “This test will be a witness,” she said. The 50-year-old said, “We think this pain has meaning, and we don’t think this is the end of the road for us.” “We are just getting a taste of what God wants for our lives.”

On Tuesday, the couple started their new lives in jail. Todd will spend the next 12 years in prison at the Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida. Julie, who was supposed to spend the next seven years at FCI Marianna, just two hours from her husband, was moved to FMC Lexington in Kentucky at the end of last month.

Each of them will have to serve 16 months of probation after they get out of jail. In August 2019, the Chrisleys were first charged with fraud and not paying their taxes. In February 2022, they were charged again with the same crimes.

Prosecutors said that the two were “career con artists” who “made a living by moving from one scam to the next, lying to banks, ripping off vendors, and avoiding taxes at every turn.” They keep acting like they are innocent.

In June 2022, when they were found guilty, Todd’s former business partner, Mark Braddock, said that the Chrisleys paid a blackmailer to keep Todd and Braddock’s alleged affair quiet. The Chrisleys have also denied these claims.
