Zoe Kravitz’s Film Blink Twice Has Announced a ‘Sexual Violence’ Warning in Advance of Its Debut
The movie Blink Twice, which marks Zoe Kravitz’s directorial debut, has released a trigger warning prior to its Friday, August 23 release.
We are honored to present Blink Twice to moviegoers this week in venues all over the world. In a statement released on Wednesday, August 21 on X by Amazon MGM Studios, the company that handled the film’s distribution in the US, stated that Blink Twice is a psychological thriller concerning the misuse of power.
“Despite being a fictional film, it features mature themes and violent, including sexual, depictions.”
The film’s plot “may be upsetting or triggering for some viewers,” the company continued. Additionally, the business offered a link to the official Blink Twice resource page, which is providing assistance to individuals impacted by the message.
The website states that Blink Twice is graded R by the MPAA due to severe violent material, sexual assault, drug use and profanity throughout, as well as some sexual references. “The film examines themes of power dynamics, sexual violence, and the nuanced experiences of survivors of sexual abuse.”
“If you or someone you know has experienced sexual violence, it is NOT your fault and you are not alone,” the letter went on.
The National Sexual Assault Hotline’s operator, RAINN, was also contacted via the website’s contact details. The hotline is open 24 hours a day, is confidential, and is free.
In the Kravitz-directed film Blink Twice, she co-stars with her fiancé Channing Tatum, Christian Slater, Simon Rex, and Naomi Ackie. The movie Blink Twice is based on the story of a cocktail waitress (Ackie) who falls in love with a millionaire software entrepreneur (Tatum) and eventually decides to go to his private island for a party.
But then things go wrong when her friend disappears during the party.
Blink Twice decided to issue a trigger warning soon after the ongoing conflict involving Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni on It Ends With Us. The film narrates the tale of Lily Bloom (Lively), a neurosurgeon Ryle Kincard (Baldoni) victim of abuse, and is based on the same-titled Colleen Hoover novel.
The 36-year-old Lively faced criticism because it seemed that she avoided talking about domestic abuse on her press tour. Following the film’s release, Lively addressed fans on social media.
The actress posted on her Instagram Story earlier this month, saying, “Thank you to everyone who came out to show that people WANT to see films about women, and the multitudes we hold.” “The story of the feminine experience is told in It Ends With Us. The greatest peaks and the deepest valleys. And we’re incredibly proud of it.
In an interview with BBC News, Lively mentioned that although It Ends With Us deals with domestic violence, “what’s important about this film is that [her character is] not just a survivor and she’s not just a victim.” She also released a snippet of the interview.
Lively uploaded information for victims of domestic abuse in a later story.
