Early Career

Feron Hunt was born on July 5, 1999. He was a member of the SMU Mustangs when he was in college. During high school, Hunt moved from New Orleans to Texas, where he went to school for the second time. At the end of high school, he played for DeSoto High School in Texas. He averaged 11.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

Hunt agreed to play college basketball for TCU at first, but after a month, he changed his mind. Later, he decided to go to SMU, choosing the Mustangs over Arkansas and Texas A&M, as well as other teams.

College Career

On March 10, 2019, Hunt scored 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a 77–71 win over South Florida. This was a record for him. For his first year of high school, he scored 7.6 points and grabbed 6.8 rebounds per game.

On February 12, 2020, Hunt scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a 79–75 win over UConn. During the first two years of high school, he scored 11 points and grabbed 6.7 rebounds per game on average.

Hunt said he was going to play in the NBA in 2020, but then he dropped out and went back to school. He thought about skipping his junior season so that he could work on social issues. On November 30, 2020, he scored 19 points in a 91–54 win over Texas A&M–Corpus Christi.

Hunt scored 11.1 points and grabbed 7.9 rebounds per game as a junior, and he was named Third Team All-American Athletic Conference. Declaring for the 2021 NBA draught, he gave up his remaining college eligibility.

Professional Career

A few years later, Hunt didn’t get picked by any teams in the NBA draught. He signed with the Dallas Mavericks for the NBA Summer League. The Mavericks agreed to sign him on August 21, 2021, so he could play for them next year.

However, on October 15, he was let go. At the end of October, he agreed to play for the Texas Legends as an affiliate. For each game, he scored 15.9 points. He also had 4.75 points, 1.5 assists, and 1.9 steals.

This happened on December 28. On that day, Hunt signed a short-term deal with the New Orleans Pelicans because of a hardship exemption. However, he didn’t play for the team. On January 7, 2022, Hunt was bought back by the Texas Legends, who had bought him in the past.

It was March 18, 2022, when Hunt signed a two-way deal with the New York Knicks.
