After reports that she and Paul Mescal had broken up after two years of dating, Phoebe Bridgers gave her best advice for getting over “heartbreak.”
In one episode of her YouTube show “Chicken Shop Date,” Amelia Dimoldenberg, who is 28, said, “You just have to do it.” “And it will end at some point, but you can’t make it stop, that’s my advice.”
When asked what heartbreak has “taught” her, she says, “I think if I’d figured that out, I wouldn’t be making music anymore.” Even though she didn’t mention her 26-year-old boyfriend by name, the “Motion Sickness” singer only had good things to say about his hit Hulu show.
“Do you think ‘Normal People’ is too popular?” When Dimoldenberg asked, Bridgers laughed and smiled. “No, I think it’s rated very well,” he said.
In August 2020, Bridgers and Mescal started dating after they were seen on a romantic vacation together. They made their red carpet debut at the 2021 LACMA Art+Film Gala in November 2021.
Many fans think the couple broke up because the musician has been spending a lot of time with comedian Bo Burnham, like at a showing of his movie “Kate” in New York City last week.
The rumoured new couple made headlines earlier this month when Matty Healy of The 1975 posted a photo of himself kissing the singer while Burnham stood behind them with his eyes closed.
Mescal and Bridgers haven’t said anything about their relationship, but their fans have taken to Twitter to talk about it. “They can’t be breaking up, look at Phoebe’s face when she talks (indirectly) about Paul omg,” one fan tweeted along with a screenshot of Bridgers being asked about Mescal’s show.
“For people with mental health problems, Phoebe Bridgers and Paul Mescal breaking up is like the Titanic sinking,” wrote another fan.
“The phoebe bridgers/bo burnham/paul mescal scandal is the Brad/Angelina/Jennifer scandal for people who wear Doc Martens,” a third person said.
“Hearing that Phoebe Bridgers and Paul Mescal broke up,” a fourth person said, along with a video of Lisa Rinna crying on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
Burnham has been with Lorene Scafaria for almost ten years, which makes Bridgers’ possible new relationship even stranger.
